Job Available - Library Assistant

Seeking a Library Assistant - Full Time

Position duties may include but are not limited to assisting adult and juvenile customers at the public service desks, use of the library automation system to circulate materials, shelving, maintenance and processing of books and materials, assisting with adult/children’s programming, working with volunteers, assisting with basic computer issues and other clerical duties as assigned.

  • The successful candidate must have a strong commitment to customer service.
  • Experience training and managing branch volunteers.
  • Advanced proficiency with computers is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time and ability to do repetitive movement.
  • Typing, filing, data entry, proficient use of a personal computer and other office equipment.
  • Physical ability to push and pull loaded book trucks weighing up to 100 pounds, lift up to 50 pound book crates, ability to bend, stoop, reach, and climb.
  • Required work schedule includes weekdays, nights and weekends

EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Previous library experience preferred.
  • Must have a valid GA Driver’s License. Travel between library locations may be required.

SALARY

  • Full time- 40 hours per week at $ 11.00-11.50 per hour, including benefits.
